Wahlberg headlines the film as Chris Farraday, a retired New Orleans smuggler who’s forced back into the business to save his brother-in-law Andy. Farraday has Sebastian, a long time friend, protect his wife Kate along with their two sons while he makes a peace-making run to Panama.

Farraday gathers his former criminal buddies to make the run in search for “funny money” that they have to bring back to New Orleans by boat. Meanwhile, Farraday’s family is getting threatened and harassed by one of his former enemies Tim Briggs, who told Farraday that he would kill him and his family if he didn’t bring the money back soon enough.

Being out of the business for quite some time, Farraday has to prove that he can still smuggle by saving his family.

As I was watching the film, I didn’t discover any scene that stood out to me. There was nothing shocking and that had a huge impact on proceeding scenes. It’s one of those movies where you have to watch two or three times before you can say you’ve seen it.

According to imbd.com, Walhberg’s previous movie, The Fighter, received an 8.0 out of 10 with a metascore of 79 out of 100. Contraband is currently at 6.8 out of 10 with a metascore of 52 out of 100.
