Students now have access to LaundryView, a website that shows the availability of washers and dryers in the residence halls.
The website offers students the chance to view their laundry rooms, as well as the ones in other residence halls. The system gives students the ease of clicking a button to check on their laundry instead of walking all the way downstairs to find that the laundry room is full. Students can also create a free account to receive text messages when their laundry is done.
Mac Gray, a commercial laundry equipment company, proposed implementing the website when it installed new washer and dryers over winter break.
The proposal was approved by Richard Marshall, Vice President of Financial Services, to be installed this semester. There was no cost increase for this upgrade, due to a negotiation that it stay the same until next year’s budget. At that time, depending on the number of students, the price may fluctuate.
Sophomore Michelle Gravius said, “It’s convenient because instead of becoming frustrated by walking downstairs and having none of the washers and dryers open, you can just go look online.”
Others also agree that it is an upside to living in the dorms.
“I think the addition of LaundryView is great. It is an amazing feature. This may even cut down on students leaving their laundry in machines for an excessive amount of time. I hope that students take advantage of the LaundryView feature,” said Experience Director Chris Johnson.
