Men’s Lacrosse Record-Setting Season Comes to a Close.

On Friday, April 30th 2010, the Franklin Pierce University Men’s Lacrosse season came to a close as the Ravens lost to Pace University 17-10, leaving them with a with a 5-8 overall record and 2-8 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Junior attacker Nate Wood led Franklin Pierce with three goals and and one assist, while sophomore Jim McInnis helped the team with two assists and one goal. Junior goalkeeper Shea Campbell had 15 saves on the day, while ending his season with a personal record of five wins and eight losses.

Franklin Pierce scored three consecutive goals to take an 8-6 lead with 10:14 left in the third period. Pace retaliated back from Franklin Pierce’s run and rallied nine-straight goals, to take a 15-8 lead coming into the fourth and final period. Franklin Pierce could not answer back to Pace’s run and gun offense.

“We played our hearts out, we knew that this was our last game of the season and we just wanted to play our best for the seniors,” said junior midfielder D.A Ivie.

The Ravens set a program record for most wins in a single season, and also compiled an impressive 4-3 record at home.

“Although this year isn’t what we wanted as a far as the success of our season, we do have the record for most wins in Franklin Pierce history with 5, but we plan on breaking that next year,” said Ivie.

The 2010 mens lacrosse season showed great signs of hope for the future. First-year head coach Rick Senatore took over the Ravens squad, and turned them in to a legitimate force in the Ne-10 conference. They return many upperclassmen next year and are looking for its younger players to step up as well.
