Last Sunday was mostly cloudy in Northern Vermont, as the Franklin Pierce crew team raced a two kilometer race against the University of Vermont. The smell of cow manure filled the air since there were farms on both sides of the University of Vermont’s practice course. The men’s four varsity boat (Z. Goodman, I. Randall, D. Forget, P. Brosnan, and B. DiCrescenzo) raced against Vermont’s boat, losing by just four seconds.

Senior Pat Brosnan said, “We did well this weekend; we also have room to improve.”

Franklin Pierce men’s novice four (Z. Goodman, J. Lacava, P. Ballantyne, M. Walcott and B. Krivelow) raced against Vermont’s second varsity four and lost by two minutes. The crew team will be racing against Roger Williams, Amherst, and Assumption on April 17th in Worcester, Massachusetts.

“Our boat is starting to come together, and we are at the beginning of a steep learning curve,” sophomore Joe Lacava said. “The first race definitely gave us a lot of goals to strive towards. ”
