President James Birge and his family, in connection with PAC and the Inauguration Committee, are sponsoring a dinner and movie event set to take place on April 13th as a part of the Inauguration Week festivities.

“Birge Family Favorites Dinner and a Movie” is one of the events that will take place during President Birge’s Inauguration week. Dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and will feature some of the Birge family’s favorite foods.  The specific foods that will be served have not been decided on at this time, but according to Birge, his daughter Maggie is a vegetarian, so “there will be some non-meat items available, too.”

Following dinner, Hitch will be shown in Pierce Hall at 7 p.m.

With the assistance of PAC, the Birges are hoping that the event will better their relationship with the students and faculty. “I would hope that the campus will get to know us more deeply and at a level where they feel more comfortable talking to us when they see us on campus,” said Birge.

“My wife Lisa had an early career in student life and thrives when she is among students.  And since my career has been in higher education, our children are very familiar and comfortable with college student life.”

Students are also expressing a positive reaction to the event. Senior Chris Lawton is glad to see the Birges active. “I think it’s pretty cool that the president and his family want to be so involved. I hope they get a good turnout,” said Lawton.
