On Friday March 5 Laura Gilbert, Jonathon Bagg and Margaret Kampmeier from Monadnock Music performed at Pierce Hall for community members, students and faculty.

The program went from chamber music to rag time music (1810-1986) and was the first in a series of Friday afternoon concerts happening this spring. Gilbert was on the flute, Bagg was on the viola and Kampmeier was on the piano. This was the first time Monadnock Music had a grand piano for a performance on campus. The group is based in Peterborough, New Hampshire and uses Franklin Pierce as a summer home to practice and perform.

The performance was put on as a part of the Experiencing the Arts course. Development Director Cynthia Geary said, “This is a part of our ongoing partnership with FPU and we are incredibly excited to participate as always.”

Monadnock Music aims at making “the best in music available to everyone,” according to the performance program. Half of the concerts they perform are free of charge and often done in churches or local meeting places. They are always open to community members.

The group will be performing again at Pierce Hall Friday March 12 at noon. For more information about the  organization contact Cynthia Geary at Cynthia@monadnockmusic.org or visit the groups  website at www.monadnockmusic.org
