Last Thursday night Franklin Pierce’s intramural program crowned its floor hockey champion.

The coveted championship tee shirts went to Team Blackout, defeating Team E.E.R.C.S. 13-7. Captained by the Imondi twins, Jay and Mike, Blackout consisted of Josh Upham, Logan Gibbs, Steve Richards, Pete Caputo, and the games Most Valuable Player, Nate Goralnik.

“This was a hard fought win and I am happy we came away with the championship” said Captain Jay Imondi. It was a tough game for both sides, as Blackout only held a 3-2 lead at the end of the first. It was during the second however, that they managed to take over, leaving the period with a 10-5 lead. The final period was as much of a battle as the first, but with Blackout so far ahead the championship was as good as theirs.

Statistically Blackout was led by Goralnik, who had 5 goals on the night. Goralnik was not alone however, as Gibb’s 4 goals and Jay Imondi’s 3 goals, helped lead the offensive attack. In the losing effort, Team E.E.R.C.S. was led by Ryan Walsh and EJ McDonald who had three goals apiece.

Game MVP Nate Goralnik

When asked about being the games Most Valuable Player, Goralnik said, “I would like to thank my teammates and most of all God for my performance out there tonight, I mean Nate Goralnik is just one man.”

In other Intramural news Team Bar Down was able to capture the Co-Rec Floor Hockey Championship earlier in the night over Team Blackout.
